About once a month, I try to get together with my family. My sisters are in Edmonton and my parents are in Medicine Hat, so I usually have to choose which direction to go each month. The choice to go is always tough – making sure I didn’t schedule anything on my day off that needs me to be here in Calgary, dreading the three hour drive in either direction, or doing some personal things that don’t really fit any other day of the week.
Please remember to return your Angels along with the gift by December, 12, 2011 so that they can be delivered to the assigned recipients. If you cannot provide a gift and have taken an Angel from tree please return it immediately or call the parish office with the details.
If you can volunteers to help with the gift sorting; hamper filling; hamper delivery etc. please contact: 403-252-6658 or email the parish office with date, time and preferred project.
This post marks the launch of a number of updates to the St. Anthony’s Parish website. New features are described below:
As before, weekly bulletins are available on the bulletins page.
General Instruction of the Roman Missal: The revised Roman Missal takes effect the beginning of Advent, Sunday, November 27, 2011. Information and education regarding the what and why changes will be taking place for the next three weekends at Mass. If you have any questions or concerns please write Fr. James Hagel.
A ‘Book of the Dead’ will be in the Church for the month of November. Please write the names of your loved ones in the book, and they will be remembered in prayer during the November Masses.
Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 7 PM a ‘Memorial Mass’ will be celebrated for Holy Souls. Everyone is welcome to attend to pray for our deceased loved ones. The Catholic Women’s League ladies will host a simple reception in the parish hall after mass.
The implementation of the revised translation of the Roman Missal will begin on the first Sunday of Advent this year, November 27. This is happening throughout the diocese, and throughout Canada. Most parishes in Calgary are trying to use the same musical settings too, so that it is easier for everyone. It is an opportunity for all of us to ponder these deep mysteries that we celebrate each and every week.
Mark your calendars to join us for breakfast, hosted by the Knights of Columbus, after each Sunday Mass next weekend, Oct. 16. $5 per adult and $2 for children 6 – 12 yrs.
3rd Annual All Saints Eve party from 6:30 – 8:30 PM in the parish hall. Children and parents of all ages are invited to come dressed as their favorite saint or bible hero and enjoy a fun-packed evening of games, crafts, treats and prized. See the bulletin for more details.
